Incidence

Incidence refers to an increase, or to a number of new infected (PCR laboratory confirmed) incidents. Ordinary it is counted as daily number of new infected incidents per 100,000 inhabitants by the length of 7-days period.

Moving Median

The median divides a sequence of numbers ordered by size into two equally numerous halves. At least 50% of the values are less than or equal to and at least 50% of the values are greater than or equal to the median. In Slovakia, the moving median is calculated from the number of daily new infections in the past week (7 days).

COVID-19

COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. It was first identified in patients with severe respiratory difficulties in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. COVID-19 affects mainly the respiratory system, in more severe cases causes pneumonia and can lead to death. The virus is transmitted by droplets during coughing, sneezing or talking and endangers persons who are in close or prolonged contact with an infected person. The infection can also be transmitted through contaminated objects.
